Today was market day for Bubba & Melanie. Bubba didn’t go to market today. Instead he headed to the field garden to get some work done. Jeff, Mom, and I went up to the field garden, and Mom & I got to drive the electric tractor! That was lots of fun! :)

Mom said she felt like a kid on her first pony ride since Bubba was walking along side her as she drove.

A proud big brother looks on as his little sister drives off on his electric tractor! :)

We also made brownies today – can you tell we like sweets? Once we got back to the farm, we helped out here and there. Jeff & I helped the other Jeff put the shade cloth on the greenhouse. After we put up the shade cloth, we went down to Thompson Creek which runs through Bubba's property and took Cooper with us. He actually got out in the water a bit.

Today was harvest day! Mom helped Bubba & Josh up in the main garden harvesting cilantro. Jeff & I decided to take the opportunity today to head down to California to the coast. It rained on us MOST of the day, but when we found a little county beach to stop at it stopped raining. We took Cooper out to the ocean….he actually enjoyed the water. He tried to drink it a couple of times, but realized it wasn’t very tasty.

Well, it rained a bit this morning, but we decided to head into J-Ville anyway to do some shopping at the little shops. They were neat little shops, but all we found to purchase was a cow ice cream scoop for me! :) We then went to this little restaurant called “Food 4 Thought” for lunch. It was pretty tasty. We then headed back to the farm, and mom and I made chocolate chip cookies for the “Cookie Monster!” Here are some pictures of mom's "Grand-dogs." This was when the dogs were getting along and playing nicely together!

This morning, Melanie went to milk the goats, and she let me try to milk Shannon. I was successful – I got milk from her! YEAH! Also, Mom flew in today! We followed Bubba & Melanie up to the Field Garden and then headed into Medford at about 11 to see if we could find replacement snaps for our truck topper. We had originally bought some cheap ones that are supposed to be used for clothing, and they broke apart as we drove 75mph down the interstate. So, we looked and couldn’t find any. Then we went to the airport and picked mom up! Once we got home, we had a “family meeting” to discuss our meals for the trip and then headed into Grants Pass for some Sushi for supper and then to Gooseberries to grocery shop.

Today was market for Bubba & Melanie, so we just hung out at home. We decided to head to Applegate Lake. Very pretty area. Then we decided to take a much needed nap. By the time we woke up and relaxed a bit more, Bubba & Melanie were home!

We weren’t able to get up and around as quickly as the day before, but we were on the road by about 7am. Eastern Oregon is very pretty. The area was pretty desolate, but we had beautiful scenery to look at. This is a picture of Mount McCloughlin taken in our rearview mirror when we got to Medford.

We drove up and down and around in the mountains! We finally arrived at Bubba’s at about 5:30pm. It was nice to finally make it here and get our camper set up, and know that we didn’t have to take it down the next morning.

Sunday, May 28, 2006

We got up and left Kimball at about 5:30 in the morning. It was a long day across the plains! Today, we were in four different states. Let me tell you, Nebraska and Wyoming are pretty flat, desolate states. Here is a picture as we drove across Wyoming:

We saw a part of the Great Salt Lake – I tried to take a picture of the Welcome to Utah sign; however, we were in the midst of road construction, and I only caught the side of it!

We then entered Idaho, and I did get a picture of that sign.

We FINALLY made it to our destination of Mountain Home. Jeff was a bit concerned about our location for the night since within the first 10 minutes we were there, we saw police patrolling the neighborhood two times. However, after those 10 minutes we didn’t see or hear the police again. Here is a picture of our campsite in Idaho.

Time for Updates :)

Hello everyone! Well, we're in Rapid City and it is RAINING here. We have an internet connection so I thought I'd give updates of where we've been and what we've done and show you some pictures. I'll post by each day! Please be patient! :)

West Coast Fun!

We're having lots of fun out here at Bubba's! I have little daily updates to put up here; however, they're on the other computer, so you'll have to be patient. I have lots of great pictures to post on here, but will need to be somewhere with a quicker connection!

Quick run-down:

Wednesday: Mom got in. -- went grocery shopping and had Sushi for supper!

Thursday: Went to J-Ville in the rain to do a little shopping -- in the afternoon, there were some cookies baked and some grass mowed

Friday: Jeff & I went down to the coast, and Cooper liked the Ocean. Mom stayed here and helped harvest (in the rain).

Saturday: We helped out a bit on the farm and made some brownies.

Sunday: Mom helped out at the field garden and Jeff & I went to Crater Lake! There was a LOT of snow up there -- Cooper LOVED the snow!

We made it!!

We made it to Bubba's! We had a few long days of driving, but we successfully made it here! Mom flew in yesterday, so it's been fun! Today we're heading into Jacksonville to do a little shopping and then we're coming back to make Chocolate Chip cookies! :) Our family has a couple of cookie monsters! Jeff & I are thinking about going down to the coast one day, and also up to Crater Lake one day! I do have pictures, but I'll wait until I have a quicker connection to post them!

Across the street from Bubba's is a guy named Chuck who owns a horse named Chuck -- poor Chuck -- he's been barked at everyday by Cooper! We just need to expose Coop to these "exotic" animals more often!

More to come later.....

Camper Pics

Here are pics of the inside of our camper...I took them sitting on the edge of each bed...sorry that it's a bit messy in here...we were in the process of repacking the camper and it got a tad messy!

First stop....

We made it to our first stop in Kimball! It's HOT and windy here! Cooper's enjoying all the surroundings....except for the horses (we've been told they're mules, but we still believe they're horses)..he doesn't get to see enough of those in the city, so he barked and barked and barked at them....after the horses got out of his view, he sat down and watched people like a good puppy!

We learned a couple lessons today...don't put frozen bread in a cooler with ice...the ice will eventually melt and then the water soaks through the bread bag and you get soggy bread! Oops! Oh well, we cut off the soggy parts and had "daintier" sandwhiches!

Otherwise our trip was good...we just drove through a bit of rain at the beginning and once we got on the interstate, it was dry, sunny, and windy!

Here's a pic of our campsite:

And here is a view looking out from the back of our camper...that's the prettiest scenery I could find that wasn't FLAT land! :)

Leaving on a jet plane....

Okay, we're not flying anywhere, but we're headed to Bubba's! YIPPEE!

Here's some pictures of us packing and trying to get Cooper to get into one of our storage containers for clothes! Notice who's in the storage tub!!!

Summer Vacation

So, I officially started summer vacation today! I worked around home -- did laundry, paid bills, did dishes, took stuff to the cleaners, ran to the store -- all the usual, wifely duties! :) We finally decided to turn on our air conditioner. I have pictures of Cooper enjoying the air conditioning.... he came in and decided that in front of the vent was the best place to be in the house! :)

Third Generation First Grade Teacher!!!

Well, I now know my placement for teaching next fall. I'm going to be teaching first grade! I'm VERY excited! I am now a third generation first grade teacher in our family -- Grandma, Mom, and now me!

School is winding down! I can't believe that we get out next Wednesday...I actually said today that I wish we had another week of school, so I could finish everything up!

We're getting VERY anxious to go to Bubba's at the end of the month. We've been planning our itinerary! We're hoping we can pack up the camper this weekend.

We cut down limbs of our tree that hangs over our neighbors yard last weekend. I'll have to post pictures when I get a chance to upload them.

I've been kept busy lately scanning picture for our family reunion in July! Lots going on!

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Computer Woes!!!!

Well, our new laptop's hard drive went bad on us this weekend! Luckily, we've found somebody who can fix it under warranty -- but still rather frustrating! So, now I'm using the "slower" PC to update the blog and check emails! It works fine, but I guess I was a bit SPOILED with the laptop!

Such is life!

Weekend Happenings

Well, we've been very busy this weekend! We started yesterday by cleaning in garage. We got a lot sorted and a few (three) bags of trash filled up! We decided that we needed a new trash can for the shop area, so we headed to Lowe's and found one. While we were there, we were walking around, and I always ask if we can get a new front door, because I can't see out the windows in our current door, so instead of spending $100 on a new door, we bought a $4 peep hole. I'm so happy, I now can tell who's on the front porch.

Inside View:

Outside View:

Then this morning we started by finishing painting my box that's going to hold my bulletin board containers. It turned out pretty cute. Take a look:

After we finished the box, I started cleaning a bit on my shelves in the basement, and I started going through some wedding gifts and stuff. Well, I remembered we had our hummingbird feeder that we needed to put outside.. So, we got it out, made the nectar and hung it up. Here's a view of our porch.

New Truck Topper

Well Jeff has been wanting a truck topper. We found some collapsible ones online, and we decided to buy one. http://www.autoenhance.com/softopperapps2.html It'll help when we take our vacation to Bubba's this summer and will probalby be helpful when we go to Colorado in July! So, here are some pictures! :) We got it yesterday and installed it last night! :)

I've included outside pictures from all directions, inside pictures, and a sticker "for dummies" that made putting the topper together a bit easier!! :) The topper rails were also color coded, and the directions told us not to get our fingers pinched between the pieces...apparently, people have pinched their fingers before -- DUH!

Fun Pictures

Okay, so we've taken lots of fun pictures lately, and I'm just getting them uploaded on my computer today. So, here's some fun pictures :)

DeAnn and her signed Pampered Chef apron.

Here's a picture of George looking like he's sleeping at a wedding...he really wasn't, but it was just a funny picture!

Here is silly Cooper. He let me put the seat belt on him in the truck, and he never really cared! I guess he just wanted to be SAFE!!!

Oops!

Well, it's been quite a while since I've been on here to blog! I was busy working on plans for DeAnn's bridal shower, getting ready for her bachelorette party, getting my dress fitted, figuring out testing schedules for school, etc! There's just a lot going on! Sorry, I promise to be better from now on!

Now, here's a bit of good news: I'm going to be teaching in a regular classroom next year. I'm moving from special ed to probably 3rd grade -- it's not quite decided yet! :)
