Cooper, where are you???

I couldn't find Cooper earlier, and then noticed that our bedroom door was opened....look at what I found:

Oops....I missed some pics.....

I apparently didn't get all our pictures uploaded before!

Here is a picture of our wall as you come in to the kitchen. To the left is the pantry door, which was accidentally painted shut -- POOR COOPER, thought he was going to have to go without food!!!

Two of our tiles placed together.

A close up of one of our tiles!

We're getting flurries....

Don Harman (Fox 4) said this morning that we'd be getting flurries -- He was Right! I tried to take pictures of it, but you can't really see the flurries.

Look VERY carefully and you might see a couple of flurries -- you can see Cooper's path in this picture. He loves the snow; however, the ice makes it hard for him to get traction to chase the squirrels.

Here's a few flurries in Cooper's food bowl. A lot of the stuff on the deck is just the freezing rain/sleet/other stuff we got this weekend.

Here's a view looking back at our leaf pile!

Picture Perfect Progress

I am currently waiting for the second coat on the drawers and doors to dry, so I decided it was time to come update my blog! :)

New light in the middle of the kitchen!

Our cabinets with liners in them....still no doors!

Cooper getting in on the picture taking action. Here's a view of the bottom cabinets with shelf liner. If you look carefully you can see the Cascade from when I did a load of dirty dishes!

We thought that the all brown curtains were TOO much in here. I however, didn't want to go buy new curtains since we've only had these for a couple of months. The blue plaid curtains were ones that Jeff had in the living room when he first moved in....what do you think!?

Productive Weekend!

*We painted all the trim and the door to the basement and the door to the pantry.
*We untaped, and did touchups.
*We drove to Menard's Sunday and got tile for our floor...it's peel & stick...looks kinda like mine did at my old apartment.
*We have moved the fridge, stove, dishwasher back to functional locations.
*We ran a load of dishes.
*We've done several loads of laundry.
*We've filled holes and sanded all the cabinet doors.
*We've painted all the drawers and a couple of the doors.
*We've put liner in the cabinets....so, we can start filling them back up.
*We've toyed with different curtain options.
*We took down the Christmas tree and our Christmas decorations.
*We cleaned the living room.
*We cooked dinner (grilled cheese & onion rings).

Let there be light...

So, Jeff had to go up in the attic to rewire the spot for our new light in our kitchen. Here is a picture of him all geared up to go into the attic:

Weekend Project

| View Show | Create Your Own

Look at what we decided to do.....

Well, it started yesterday with Jeff working in his shop and we had to go to Lowe's to get some Lug bolts. We did that, and everything was fine and dandy! Then he needed some nuts and bolts for another project, so we headed to Home Depot. Somehow we ended up in the door pull aisle and I decided that I wanted to paint the cabinets in the kitchen -- well, painting the cabinets in the kitchen led to painting the whole kitchen which led to scraping all the border off the wall. So, we came home, moved some stuff, got the ladder, scraper, water squirt bottle and got to work. We did find that putting a couple of drops of fabric softner in the water REALLY helps! We had 2 borders to get rid of....one that was here when Jeff moved in and one that Jeff put up! Well, finally by about 10pm last night we were done....now we will work on the cabinets and painting today! Keep checking back for new pics! :)

This was a picture I took in our kitchen a few months ago...if you look carefully in the left of the picture you can see the green border that was up on the wall!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Well, I got some requests to update my blog today, so here goes!!! We had a great Christmas -- went up north for the holidays. We left on Friday evening AFTER Jeff went and bought my birthday present! We got to the Ville and ate and just hung out. Saturday I woke up and let EVERYONE know it was my birthday!!! We went to A&G's for lunch. It was Mom, Dad, George, Sara, Jeff, and me! We had a GREAT lunch! I opened some of my presents and then we headed back to George & Sara's! Dad came back and we just talked for a while. The next day was Sunday -- Christmas Eve! Jeff woke up and decided that we were going to go to T-town to do some drywalling at mom's! Then we headed back to the Ville and Jeff's family came over for snacks that evening! The next day was Christmas! What a fun-filled day! We went to Jeff's grandparents for lunch and then headed to T-town to spend the evening with my parents. We ate dinner at mom's - Yummy Hamballs -- Hey Mom, we need the recipe! I thought I had it, but don't! -- then went to Dad & Carol's to spend some time with them. We stayed in T-town on Monday night and headed back to the Ville to get Cooper on Tuesday! We headed home, unpacked, and cleaned! Overall, it was a VERY fun-filled weekend! Jeff has inventory to do this week at work and I'm going to be working on our Christmas/New Year's letter and cleaning the house! Then we're heading back to the Ville for Christmas with Jeff's family next weekend and for New Year's! We'll also be heading up to Iowa to see my mom's brothers!!!

Since I didn't get any pics from Christmas, here's a pic of Jeff & I from Thanksgiving!!!

The GRE!!!

Well, I went and took the GRE today -- I passed (well the verbal & quantitative parts) I go more than what I needed to get into Northwest grad school -- so that's a plus! Now, I just have to wait for the analytical writing portion to see how I did on that! :)

Vote for Coach Tjeerdsma!!!

Jack-o-lantern time

One of my students' parents brought me a pumpkin after we'd gone on our field trip to the pumpkin patch. We decided to carve it today. We couldn't agree on the design, so we have a two-sided pumpkin!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well, things have been busy here! I have finished my first quarter of teaching first grade! I Really am enjoying my class this year. Last Thursday we had Parent/Teacher Conferences and I had a pretyt good turnout!

Jeff flew to Washington D.C. on Thursday for work. It was a VERY short trip -- he flew back Friday afternoon!!!

This weekend was Northwest's Homecoming. It was such a beautiful day on Friday, and then Saturday was a different story. It was rainy and COLD on Saturday. We went to the parade and about froze our toes/fingers. After the parade, Jeff and I headed to Wal-Mart to get Long-johns and warm socks. We headed back, changed our clothes, and then headed over to our friend's house to have a little chili. We went to the game ALL bundled up -- long johns, coats, gloves, ponchos, stocking caps, etc....We finally left the game at half-time because Northwest was up 38-0! Then we we had some more chili with Jeff's family, and napped a bit. Northwest ended up winning the game 59-0!!! Go BEARCATS!!!!

Today is Sunday, and we haven't done much. We watched "Over the Hedge" and tried to stay warm by the wood stove. We've also watched the Chiefs game -- They were doing REALLY well at the beginning, but now it's a bit questionable who will win!!!

Windows, Windows, Windows

We have successfully installed 6 out of 14 windows in our house! We now have new windows in the bathroom, kitchen, and dining room as well as one in our bedroom! The other one in the bedroom needs some work done to the window sill (it's a bit rotten). Several of the remaining windows have rotten trim on the outside, so we went to Lowe's yesterday and bought wood to replace that -- now we just have to prime it, cut it, and install it! :) Here's some pictures of our windows installed (they look BETTER in person!) I'll post outside view pictures of the bedroom when we get the trim replaced!
